The Department of Education (DepEd) Division of Davao del Sur officially kicked off the celebration of National Teachersโ€™ Month (NTM) with a heartfelt and inspiring ceremony at Sinawilan National High School.

The event brought together educators, students, school officials, and community stakeholders to honor the vital role of teachers in nation-building. A moving highlight of the celebration was the emotional tribute presented by learners, showcasing their deep appreciation for their teachers.

Schools Division Superintendent Lorenzo E. Mendoza, CESO V, was visibly moved by the learnersโ€™ performance and shed tears during his inspirational message. He praised the dedication and sacrifices of teachers, emphasizing their role as pillars of hope and agents of transformation. He further highlighted the Departmentโ€™s commitment to supporting teachers through initiatives such as the mass hiring of Administrative Officers and Project Development Officers to be assigned in schools, ensuring that teachers can focus on teaching rather than clerical work. Superintendent Mendoza also mentioned the importance of career progression opportunities for teachers and school heads, upgraded allowances, salary increases, and other benefits to uplift their welfare and professional growth.

Representing the Province of Davao del Sur, Mr. Genaro โ€œJunโ€ Dumayas II also delivered a message of support and appreciation. He expressed the provinceโ€™s deep gratitude to the frontliners of education and gave assurance of the local governmentโ€™s full support in addressing the needs of the education sector โ€” particularly in infrastructure, projects, and services aimed at improving learning environments across the province.

The successful kickoff marks the beginning of a month-long celebration packed with activities that promote appreciation, professional development, and unity within the education community.

National Teachersโ€™ Month is observed from September 5 to October 5, culminating on World Teachersโ€™ Day.
