The Schools Division of Davao del Sur, through its Learner Rights and Protection Office in partnership with the Cor Jesu College Legal Aid Office (CJC-LAO), successfully conducted a two-day capacity-building activity on the establishment of the Committee on Decorum and Investigation (CODI) in schools held on June 4–5, 2025, at Hotel De Crisbelle, Crown Center, Digos City.
With the full participation of elementary and secondary school heads, as well as guidance counselors and coordinators, the activity aimed to deepen their understanding of the Safe Spaces Act and its implementation in basic education pursuant to OM-OUOPS-2024-05-01115. The session equipped school personnel with essential knowledge and tools to become proactive advocates of safe and inclusive learning environments.
A highlight of the event was the ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement between Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Lorenzo E. Mendoza, CESO VI, and Atty. Jelyne Sunga-Guadalupe, RN, Supervising Director of the CJC Legal Aid Office. This partnership solidifies the shared commitment of both institutions to uphold and protect learners’ rights and ensure that schools remain spaces free from harassment, discrimination, and abuse.
This initiative marks a vital step toward institutionalizing child-safe mechanisms in schools across the division—because every learner deserves to feel safe, seen, and supported.
