In a strong move to promote inclusive education, the Schools Division Office of Davao del Sur, through the thrusts of Curriculum Implementation Division (CID) conducted a week-long Developmental Assessment for learners showing signs of learning difficulties or special needs.
The activity was held Padada Central Elementary School from July 31 to August 1 and August 4 to 6, 2025, the initiative aimed to comprehensively evaluate the developmental functioning of identified learners. The assessment focused on key domains including cognitive, motor, psycho-social, communication, and adaptive skills.
The activity was designed to gather crucial data that will guide educational planning, intervention, and appropriate classroom placement. By understanding each learnerโs unique developmental profile, educators and support staff can better tailor their strategies to provide effective and meaningful learning experiences.
โThis assessment is a significant step in ensuring that no learner is left behind,โ Rovelyn Moreno, SNED Focal said. โIt allows us to respond more effectively to the individual needs of our students by planning interventions that are both relevant and compassionate.โ
The results of the assessments will serve as the foundation for crafting individualized support plans that address the specific needs of each learner, reinforcing the commitment of the Department of Education and the Province of Davao del Sur to provide equitable and responsive education for all.
This initiative forms part of the broader thrust of the Department of Education to foster inclusive learning environments that uphold the rights and potential of every Filipino child, regardless of ability or circumstance.
With continued support from school heads, teachers, specialists, and parents, the Division of Davao del Sur remains steadfast in its mission to nurture a learning community where diversity is respected, and every learner is empowered to thrive.
